THE ROLE

Due to continued growth and expansion into new areas we are looking to recruit an experienced marketing/sponsorhship/events professional to this newly created senior position with the firm.

A team player with a passion to lead from the front and work autonimously you pride yourself in delivering exceptional marketing/sponsorship/event solutions to drive strategic objectives.

The Business Development Manager will be responsible for delivering against an established commercial revenue targets and ensuring that sponsorship opportunities are being sought and are delivering upon partners expectations.

The successful candidate will act as a subject matter expert to the business in sponsorship, delivering against the business plan covering sales, revenue, and expense controls, meeting agreed targets, and promoting the organisation’s presence throughout Australian marketplace.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

Criteria: The successful candidate has the following demonstrated knowledge, skills and qualifications:

• Education: Degree qualified in marketing/business/sponsorship/events preferred skills in digital/CRM

• Technical Skills: Experience in creating effective sales strategies and solutions in a b2b consultative selling environment; a confident negotiator with proven ability to close the deal; a positive and determined approach to researching and analysing new business opportunities.

• Industry Experience: Experienced high performer in PR/marketing/sponsorship/sales is essential, ideally 3-5 years exceeding sales targets with specific experience in Sport, Media, Agency in the Australian marketplace.

• Personal Qualities: Proven capability in hands-on problem solving, with the ability to generate ideas and solutions; self-motivated and results driven; a genuine interest in digital technology; excellent organisational and time management skills and ability to work under pressure.  Tenacious, articulate, high energy, accountable, competitive and driven to ultimately succeed in this role.

• Technology Skills: Demonstrated Microsoft office & Google suite, CRM and social media competence.

• Project management: Event based co-ordination and delivery of bespoke turn key events. All encompassing from inception to final delivery.

• Communication Skills:(EXTERNAL) Excellent communication skills; ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organisation and with external parties to Senior Executive levels.(INTERNAL)Highly developed reporting skills, working closely with the Managing Director with updates and outcomes in agreed format.

You will require strong relationship management of internal and external stakeholders, a strategic and creative approach to client briefs, and management of accurate and efficient reporting of all related sponsorship and advertising campaigns MapSports athletes are involved in.

What you will do:

• Development and implementation of the Marketing and Business Development Strategy, centred around the startegic alliance of MapSports profile athletes with key partners with a focus to grow into partnerships via campaigns, events, digital marketing, communications and PR.

• You will be able to begin delivery on strategic outcomes immediately due to your existing contacts and networks within industry and are passionate about landing strong partnerships for full time professional sports people.

• Meet weekly and monthly targets for business development activities.

• You have a well-developed professional understanding of marketing on and how to leverage LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and YouTube to support marketing campaigns

• Project managing role out of engagements and some support of those activities via MapSports social platforms with additional creation of content around activations for the website.

• Assist in the design of industry events around the sporting sector and take the lead role in the delivery of those events from inception to roll out.

What you will have:

• Tertiary level qualification essential

• Self-starter who is highly motivated and enjoys setting challenging goals

• Experience in proposal development and strategic integration

• Extensive knowledge of the sports sponsorship market place and established network to match.

• Strong negotiation skills and project management skills

• Computer literacy in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Google Suite

• Experience in managing events from inception to final delivery.

Desirable

• Postgraduate qualifications

• Identifying and attracting commercial sector and government sponsorship opportunities

• Previous employment in the NRL marketing/sponsorship/events environment
