Roddy Debuts for Green Machine

8 September 2025

MapSports Joe Roddy has been selected to debut for the Canberra Raiders against the Redcliffe Dolphins.
Roddy, who hails from Tumut in Southern NSW has been patiently building towards this point ever since he made the decision to relocate to Canberra and begin his fulltime training. Whilst it was always a dream to play in the NRL, becoming a graduate of the juniors system, and advancing through the latter parts of that has seen him adapt to each level.
Playing 28 games at the NSW Cup level while still under the age of 21 has hardened him for what was ahead. That work ethic and single minded focus, even through injury, has been the catalyst for the build of resilience and better understanding of focussing on the tangible controllables.
This is what has delivered his NRL debut while still Jersey Flegg eligible, which is no mean feat for a forward in today’s game.
Huge congratulations to him and his family as they get to experience the culmination of the years of support of Joe’s dreams and aspirations.
